Surrendering

What does it mean to surrender?

Surrender does not mean submitting or acquiescing to an anthropomorphic God outside of you.

It does not mean relinquishing your free will and your ability to make choices to become a robot controlled by an external deity.

This is not what surrendering means.

Surrendering means that you allow yourself to be guided and led by a loving presence that is forever and ever for you, and who’s will it is that you grow, unfold, and expand to become more, yet never less than your Divine self.

In other words, surrendering means to tune into the still small voice that is forever whispering words of guidance and wisdom, trusting it, and following its guidance.

You still retain your ability to make conscious choices, but you are no longer taking your cue from the world but from within.

In yet other words surrendering means that you get out of the way and let God have its way with you, according to the will of God.

What is the will of God?

The will of God is for all of Life to come into forever greater and grander versions and expressions of itself.

This means that it is God’s will that you grow, unfold, and expand.

It is God’s will that you continuously allow the old and the limited to dissolve that the new and expanded may come forth.

It is God’s will that you continuously discover, cultivate, and share your gifts, talents, and abilities with the world, fully and freely.

Thus allowing God to come into greater and grander expression in and through you and your life.

It is God’s will that you, continuously, allow your Divine Light to come forth and shine brighter and more luminous.

This is the will of God.

The practice of surrender

So what is the practice of surrender in your everyday life?

As surrender means to get out of the way and give God permission to guide and lead you, the practice of surrender primarily consist of you making yourself open and available to catch the guidance that is perpetually being broadcast to you.

It means that you form a practice of becoming still and turning your attention within. That you may hear this guidance.

It also means that you actively and consciously release and let go of your egoic need to be in control.

And so you, on a consistent and regular basis, open yourself up by saying in substance; Thy will be done, or I will the will of God to be done in my life – come what may.

What is your mission?

We all share the same purpose which is to reveal the face of God, or to allow God to come into forever greater and grander expression in and through us.

However, you have your own unique way of fulfilling that purpose.

You have been given a unique set of abilities, talents, and gifts. These you have been given, not to sit on, but to give and share with the world.

And so, your mission is to discover, cultivate, and share them with the world, according to your unique and perfect pattern.

Relating this to the practice of surrender, each day, you want to ask for your mission.

At some point during each day, you want to ask;

– What is my mission today?
– How can I serve?
– Whom can I serve?
– Where can I serve?

As you ask these questions, and as you seek to become still enough that you may catch the answer, you will be guided into inspired action.

Now you have got yourself out of the way and given God permission to guide and lead you.

This is surrender.

So, what is your mission? What gifts, talents, and abilities have you come here to give and share with the world?

Another aspect of surrendering

Another aspect of the practice of surrendering is to embrace and allow that which is to be as it is, regardless of what it is.

As God is forever for you, never against you and as God is in everywhere in full – it means that, ultimately everthing is working for your good.

Even that which on the surface appears to be bad or negative is ultimately working for your good.

Another way of saying ithis is that each and every challenge inherently contains a blessing and a lesson of transformation.

When you learn to embrace and allow that which is to be as it is, that blessing and lesson will reveal itself that you may learn it with ease, grace, and dignity.

Resisting that which is only serves to perpetuate and amplify it.

Please be aware that God never makes a meaningless act.

Please also be aware that ever single one of your experiences is for the edification of your soul, is a stepping stone for you to go to higher and higher levels of awareness.

Embrace and allow that which is to be as it is that you may forever climb to those higher levels.

The effects of surrendering

The effects of surrendering to God is that you make yourself open and available for more peace, joy, creativity, calm, and harmony to flow into your life.

As you give up your superficial sense of control, as you get out of the way – what emerges is a sense of peace and calm as you are giving up your need to make it happen.

By surrendering, you, in essence, are placing your life in the hands of God.

This means that you allow God to support and provide for you.

You no longer feel the need to make it happen. Life ceases to be an obstacle course that you have to struggle your way through just to survive.

Your perception of Life as hostile and unfriendly dissolves and Life becomes a wonderful and magical adventure, in which you are now participating in.

This does not mean that you no longer have to make choices and decisions – because obviously, you do.

Only, these choices and decisions are no longer reactions to external events, but they are responses.

Responses that are inspired and compelled by God speaking through your intuition or the still small voice.
